Halloween is a “manufactured” holiday, literally one that is man made. It appears to have its roots through the combining of traditions over time. It includes elements of an ancient Celtic feast known as Samhain, which celebrated the harvest, the collection of “bounty”. It certainly has elements from the Roman Catholic tradition; All Saint’s Day is indeed one type of celebration of the communion of spirit or soul’s with the living. Our modern society has perhaps had the biggest impact on the meaning of the day; overshadowing earlier meanings with the now familiar candy, costumes, witches, ghosts and ghouls! People naturally wonder if this day has some special spiritual or paranormal significance.

Halloween has become the “official day” of the spirit world and paranormal activities. There are thousands of pop culture references supporting this myth. People have always enjoyed a good Halloween ghost story. There are television and movies from the horror genre, such as Halloween from legendary director John Carpenter, which are designed to ramp up the fear factor. It is no accident that Paranormal Activity 2 is being released on October 22. We need to realize that the association of Halloween to these things is strictly for entertainment, for those that like that kind of thing.
Halloween actually has no bearing on souls who have moved on in a peaceful, unfettered manner; nor does it hold any special place for the developing souls who are still in a state of transition. Spirit may come through at any time.
As with living people, the soul continues to search through it’s own experience, or karma on the way to a clear, totally absorbed state of consciousness and clarity. This is heaven, a union with the divine.

Yes, there are times when the energy is not peaceful. I have had many dark readings; particularly in which the energy of the death was quite brutal such as with a murder. I have also borne witness to other horrific things. They do come through with a sense of unease. It can be upsetting. However, at times there is a lingering of darkness, evil if you will. This is true. I often pray for them.
Halloween while a wonderful children’s holiday, good fun for all ages and a windfall for dentists, is not in and of itself more spiritually “active” than any other day.
